Election Day in Texas is coming up on March 4th, but we don’t have to wait until then to make our voices heard. I voted early for Barack Obama.

Check out a video of Barack at a rally in Houston and use this online tool to find your early vote location:

I hope you’ll join me in voting early — and in supporting Barack!

Texas ban on sex toy sales is overturned

By ANGELA K. BROWN, Associated Press Writer Wed Feb 13, 9:27 PM ET

FORT WORTH, Texas – A federal appeals court has overturned a statute outlawing sex toy sales in Texas, one of the last states — all in the South — to retain such a ban.

The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the Texas law making it illegal to sell or promote obscene devices, punishable by as many as two years in jail, violated the right to privacy guaranteed by the 14th Amendment.

Companies that own Dreamer’s and Le Rouge Boutique, which sell the devices in its Austin stores, and the retail distributor Adam & Eve sued in federal court in Austin in 2004 over the constitutionality of the law. They appealed after a federal judge dismissed the suit and said the Constitution did not protect their right to publicly promote such devices.

In its decision Tuesday, the appeals court cited Lawrence and Garner v. Texas, the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2003 opinion that struck down bans on consensual sex between same-sex couples.

“Just as in Lawrence, the state here wants to use its laws to enforce a public moral code by restricting private intimate conduct,” the appeals judges wrote. “The case is not about public sex. It is not about controlling commerce in sex. It is about controlling what people do in the privacy of their own homes because the state is morally opposed to a certain type of consensual private intimate conduct. This is an insufficient justification after Lawrence.”

Help, my computer keeps crashing, what should I do?

Posted by Stevious in General, General, Ge... | 02.11.2008 - 1:17 pm

I seem to get questions like that a lot.

The things I would look for on your machine if I was there is to first make sure that all software, drivers and BIOS are up to date using WindowsUpdate for the Operating System, and whatever tools your PC manufacturer provides to make sure you have the latest software, drivers and BIOS installed. Because if you actually call Microsoft or your PC manufacturer for support, that’s what they’ll ask you to do.

The next thing I would do is make sure that you have a current Anti-Virus program with the latest virus definitions, and a subscription to obtain updates as they are released. And the last thing I would do is install two tools that help find and fix configuration issues, and remove spyware.

The first one is Crap Cleaner. (http://www.ccleaner.com/) Crap Cleaner is a freeware system optimization and privacy tool. It removes unused files from your system – allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history.

The second one is Spybot Search & Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/spybotsd/index.html) Spybot – Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a kind of threat not covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven’t intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been “hijacked” (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don’t see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there’s no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer.

gone snowboarding…

Barack Obama for Democratic nominee

Endorsements for president 2008
February 3, 2008

Democrats preparing to vote in Tuesday’s California primary can mark their ballots with confidence, knowing that either candidate would make a strong nominee and, if elected, a groundbreaking leader and capable president. But just because the ballot features two strong candidates does not mean that it is difficult to choose between them. We urge voters to make the most of this historic moment by choosing the Democrat most focused on steering the nation toward constructive change: We strongly endorse Barack Obama.

There’s a post over at Pam’s House Blend on McCains use of anti-gay robocalls. What I don’t get is Log Cabin Republicans.
