We were moving the patio swing chair out to the side yard last night, and the frog from the pond reappeared.
More full sized pictures added to the gallery starting here.
I had found, downloaded and installed a special set of animated messenger emoticons for Yahoo messenger last year, and haven’t been able to find them again. So I zipped them up and dropped them on my web server at home. That way I can get to them when I need them. Here are a few samples:

It must be Saturday, laundry, cleaning, and yard work… blah. Anyone want to come by and help?
Well, we didn’t make the train this morning at Blossom Hill, so we had to race to downtown San Jose to catch it there… blah, waste a half hour driving downtown at 6:00 in the morning.
Well, Nhut paid the bill last night, in fact the owner called within a couple minutes of Nhut sending an email inquiring about the status of the site. And, well, I was able to dump the MySQL database and move the data here. Oh, and special thanks to Nick for helping me with a MySQL installation issue on Fedora Core 1.
OK, so I guess Nhut decided not to pay the bill for the site hosting my blog, and I’m back here again… after losing two years worth of data. Any comments?
So, it looks like I will be spending the summer in Boston again. Current plans are to be in Boston from mid-May through the middle-to-end of August. I’ll be working in IBM’s Extreme Blue lab in Cambridge, same as last year. Just when I was starting to get comfortable here at home. Well, the good news is that Nhut is back and we’ve been working on cleaning up the yard and house. Nhut tore up the pond, and is redoing the side yard, again… hope it takes less than three years to finish this time around.
A year ago today, the Bush Administration was making its final push
toward war in Iraq. We know now that much of what we were told about the
threat that Iraq posed was untrue. And rather than own up to their
distortion of the facts, Bush administration officials are denying they
ever said such things.
But this Sunday, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld got caught blatantly
contradicting his past statements, and there’s a video clip. You can
check it out at:
that I would be spending another summer in Boston? More details as the story unfolds…
I got a note from John Patrick today… John, for those of you who might not know, was vice president of Internet Technology at IBM until he “e-tired” at the end of 2001. See his weblog link below for more info…
Recently I spoke with Munir Kotadia at ZDNet UK in London about the future of browser technology and whether or not Microsoft can dominate the browser market. Having recently joined the board of Opera Software, this is a topic of interest to me. The reporter also asked for my opinion about why Linux is gaining in popularity. My bottom line was that it is not about “free”, it is about “freedom”. If you are interested in seeing the interview, here is the link…

On Wednesday, March 3, our country’s leaders begin discussing the fate of marriage equality at U.S. Senate hearings for the anti-marriage, anti-family constitutional amendment.
Our legislators need to hear from many more voices supporting civil rights for GLBT Americans. I’d like to ask friends and family to join the nearly 350,000 people who’ve signed the marriage equality petition. Help us reach a million signatures! Check out the new HRC commercial — titled “What if it was a gay world?”. It puts viewers in the shoes of a couple left unprotected under the law without the right to marry. Take a look and then forward it to as many people as possible, as quickly as possible. Click here.
Check out this article from my old hometown newspaper. Title: For the self-righteous: vow to quit meddling

Well, Nhut is back for good, and today’s commuter morning was a classic. I get up after the alarm clock goes off, make coffee and feed the dogs while Nhut is getting ready for work, and invariably I’m ready to drive to the train station well ahead of when Nhut is ready to be driven there. He keeps asking what time it is, as though he can’t look at the clock, because it might take up too much of his time, and make him late. But it doesn’t matter anyway because as I go out to the garage to open the garage door, and get the car started, I can hear the train go by the house… which means, the race is on. I pop my head back into the house to let Nhut know I heard the train go by, and of course he acts surprised, and expresses disbelief.
We fly down Monterey highway, and it’s raining this morning, plus my Subaru just barely has the guts to get through the gears this quick! We make it to the station and Nhut has to jump out at the light and cross the highway, fortunately, there’s no traffic, and he gets across OK. But he still has to buy a ticket at the machine before he can board! The train is sitting in the station, doors open, conductor on the platform waiting as Nhut goes to the ticket machine… I’ll have to find out what went wrong later, because he held up the train for a couple minutes apparently dealing with something wrong at the machine. I waited patiently in case the train had left without him, and I had to race to the next station, but he got on OK. sigh… some things never change!
